As of Mid July '09 Interest rates for 30 year fixed rate mortgages are now in the low 5% range with no points. Often a point can buy down the rate to a significant degree and of course, your credit score means a LOT as does your employment history. But Loans ARE Available including the possiblity for certain purchases to obtain 100% financing wiht FHA programs as well as VA loan programs. There are even programs for 102% financing with a Rural Development Loan (ask for more details). FHA Program loans now allow for qualified first time home buyers to use their $8,000 first time home buyer tax credit as a downpayment! This makes it that much easier for buyers with little or no down payment to buy a home.
